How it all started...
S0uth Bristol Church was founded in 1904 as a Methodist Church named Haynes Church. The church met at Haynesfield School led by an Emory and Henry College Student, L. W. Pierce.
In 1915 the former Governor of Tennessee, John Cox, sold the current location to the church for $360. He then donated $300 to the church making the net cost $60. Ground was broken to build the church on April 15, 1915.
On November 30, 1936, the church was partially destroyed by Fire. The church was rebuilt in about 4 months.
IN 2023 THE MEMBERSHIP VOTED TO DISAFFILIATE from THE uNITED METHODIST CHURCH.
TODAY THE CHURCH IS NON-DENOMINATIONAL.
